Mahoning Valley Warrior is the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley’s signature annual fundraiser. The event combines athletic competitions, family-friendly activities, and the region’s largest Special Needs Resource Fair to raise funds for programs and services supporting the local Autism community.

All proceeds support the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley, which provides resources, support, and advocacy for families and individuals affected by Autism in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties.

  1. What are the different events I can participate in?

    Participants can choose from:

  • Valley Autism 5K
  • Autism 1-Mile Support Walk
  • Kids’ 400-Meter Fun Run
  • Mahoning Valley Warrior Competition (4 events)
  • People-Powered Tractor Pull (team event)
  1. What is the Warrior Competition?

    The Warrior Competition is for elite athletes competing for the title of Mahoning Valley Warrior. The competition includes a 5K, Individual People-Powered Tractor Pull, Sandbag Carry/ Sled Drag, and Farmer Carry. The top male and female competitors receive a cash prize, a custom championship belt, and bragging rights.

  2. Is there an entry fee for the events?

    Yes, each event has an entry fee. For example:

  • Valley Autism 5K – $35 with a shirt & finisher medal (chip-timed)
  • Kids’ Fun Run – $10 or $25 with a shirt
  • Autism Support Walk – $15 or $30 with a shirt (Autistic Individual $0 or $15 with shirt)
  • Warrior Competition – $100, includes performance shirt 
  • People-Powered Tractor Pull – $130 per team (includes shirts for 8 members)
  • Your Choice! Raffle Ticket  $15
  1. When and where is the event held?

    The Mahoning Valley Warrior 2025 event occurs on May 31, 2025, at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Participants should enter through Gate 2 (tentative, may change).

  2. What activities are available for families?

    Families can enjoy:

  • Family Fun Carnival with games, inflatables, food trucks, and a petting zoo
  • Special Needs Resource Fair with resources and contacts for autism and special needs
  • Autism 1-Mile Support Walk and Family Fundraising Teams
  • Family-friendly entertainment, including a DJ 
  1. How do I register for the event?

    You can register online through the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley’s website. Registration closes on Sunday, May 25 at 5 PM. Donations only will re-open on Sunday evening or Monday morning for the remainder of the week and through June 1. 

  2. Can I volunteer for the event?

    Yes, we welcome volunteers! Volunteers who sign up by May 1 will receive a Volunteer shirt. Volunteers can sign up on our Track it Forward system at www.trackitforward.com/site/autism-society-of-mahoning-valley. Volunteers are expected to work their entire shift unless other arrangements are made.

  3. What items will be available for purchase at the event?

    There will be concessions, a dunk tank, raffle tickets, and other items for sale. Bring cash to enjoy all these options.

  4. Are there prizes for the Autism Support Walk?

    Yes, teams for the Autism Support Walk can compete for prizes for Top Fundraising Teams. autismwarriormv.org/2025-team-prizes-levels
